Around Commissions
Report on the 1st W102 Annual Conference and Commission Meeting on Information and Knowledge Management in Building in Lisbon, Portugal
During 19 - 20 May 2005 the W102 International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management a Global Economy took place together with CIB W102 Commission meeting. The conference and commission meeting were hosted by Prof. Francisco Loforte Ribeiro. Two new books in the knowledge management field were presented at the conference by their authors.
TG53 - Postgraduate Research Training in Building and Construction: Annual Report 2005
TG53 Coordinator Dr. Dilanthi Amaratunga provides a report on the Task Group's main activities in 2005 that includes a description of the main outcome from two workshops: one in April in Salford, UK and one in July in Brisbane, Australia. Future Task Group activities include: meetings in 2006 in Delft, The Netherlands and in Hong Kong, development of guidelines for research training, alignment of events as related to CIB Student Chapters worldwide and setting up an European-Asian cooperation programme.
W056 - Sandwich Panels: Report from W056 Commission Meeting held in May 2005, Barcelona, Spain
The CIB W056 and ECCS TWG 7.9 Joint Committee on Sandwich Panels held a meeting on May 9 2005 in Barcelona, Spain. Items on the agenda included the further developments on the next W056 work program, the outcome of the vote by CEN TC 128 SC11 on the Standardisation document and discussions for a proposal on external funding. W080 - Prediction of Service Life of Building Materials and Components: Report from the Annual Meeting of W080 held in April 2005, Lyon, France
A W080 meeting was held on April 15 2005 in Lyon, France, in conjunction with the 10DBMC conference. Issues discussed as reported by the Commission's Scientific Secretary Per Jostein Hovde included discussions on membership issues, Report on Committee Documents and review and planning of the Work Program 2005-2006.
W106 - Geographical Information Systems: Report on the Annual Meeting held in April 2005 in Lyon, France
W106 held its Commission meeting 15 April 2005 in conjunction with the 10DBMC Conference. Issues discussed included a review of the meeting held in Toronto in May 2004, and the review of the Final Report. An introduction to the report was presented by W106 Coordinator Svein Haagenrud.
W110 - Informal Settlements and Affordable Housing: Report of the 1st Meeting in September 2005 in Porte Alegre, Brazil and in Asuncion, Paraguay
A Latin American Regional meeting of CIB W110 on "Informal Settlements and Affordable Housing" took place in conjunction with the 8 th Latin American Congress on Pathology of Construction CONPAT 2005 on Saturday 17 - 18 September 2005, in AsunciĆ³n Paraguay. Prior to that W110 held a meeting in Porto Alegre in Southern Brazil.

CIB Co-Sponsored: ICTB-VI 6th International Conference on Tall Buildings, Hong Kong, 6-8 December 2005
The 6th International Conference on Tall Buildings (ICTB-VI) focuses on a series of prevailing topics ranging from innovative and sustainable design/construction aspects to social-economic issues of occupants. Experience gained from designing and constructing tall commercial buildings has now been transferred to high-rise residential properties, e.g. the 72-storey Harbour front Landmark in Hong Kong.

W084 - Building Comfortable Environment for All: Accessibility and Safety for All, 22 March 2006, Verona, Italy
The CIB W084 Meeting in Verona, hosted by the Commission Coordinator Annalisa Morini, will address and resume the developments of affiliated institutions in research for a "Comfortable Built Environment for All", invite potential presenters and stimulate discussion.
ASCE and CIB - The 2nd Specialty Conference on Leadership and Management in Construction and Engineering "International Perspectives", 4-6 May 2006, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas
CIB is delighted to announce that it will co-sponsored the 2nd Speciality Conference on Leadership and Management in Construction and Engineering. which will take place on 4-6 May 2006 in the Bahamas. This conference will bring together researchers and educators from all over the world.
2nd W102 Annual Conference and Commission Meeting on Information and Knowledge Management in Building in conjunction with the International Conference "Building on IT" on 14-16 June 2006, Montreal, Canada
It is the first time that the following five streams of conferences gather together to organize this joint Conference under a common theme: Building on IT: i) ICCCBE-XI: 11th Int'l Conf. on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering, ii) ICCC-ASCE: 2006 Int'l Conf. on Computing in Civil Engineering of ASCE, iii) DMUCE-5: 5th Conference on Decision Making in Urban and Civil Engineering, iv) CIB-W078: 23rd Conference on Information Technology in Construction, v) CIB-W102: 2nd Conference on Information and Knowledge Management in Construction. "Building on IT" will be the largest gathering in computing and decision making in civil and building engineering in 2006.
Adaptables 2006, 3-5 July 2006, Eindhoven, The Netherlands
The Eindhoven Technical University has given the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning the opportunity to organize the Conference Adaptables 2006 by celebrating their 50 th anniversary. By bringing together professionals and academics working with adaptable structures the organizers of the conference hope to evoke inspiring discussions and new academic insights. Three CIB commissions will meet in conjunction with this conference: TG57 on Industrialisation in Construction, W060 on Performance Concept in Building and W096 on Architectural Management.

Report of the 3rd CIB Student Chapters International Symposium held on 4-8 July 2005, Brisbane, Australia
The 3 rd CIB Student Chapters International Symposium was organised this year by the CIB Student Chapter at QUT in association with the Student Chapter at Tsinghua University, China. The event was part of the QUT Research Week 2005 organized by the Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering, QUT, Australia, in collaboration with CIB, RICS and AUBEA.
Report on the 5th International Postgraduate Research Conference in the Built and Human Environment held in April 2005, Salford, United Kingdom
The 5th International Postgraduate Research Conference in the Built and Human Environment was organized by the Research Institute for the Built and Human Environment (BuHu), the Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI) and the CIB Endorsed Student Chapter. The Conference was organised by the University of Salford, UK. Outcomes from research workshops and awarded prices are described. A Best Presentation Award was presented by CIB Assistant Secretary General Mr. Patrice Godonou.
