Introducing CIB W101 New Joint Coordinator: Prof. Yasushi Asami
Chair of the CIB Programme Committee announces Professor Asami as new Joint Coordinator of CIB W101 - Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Development. He is the successor Prof. Tsutomo Shimazaki who has decided to step down as per February 2006.Prof Asami represents the University of Tokyo, CSIS - Center for Spatial Information Science.
Report of the 38th W018 Commission Meeting
CIB Working Commission W018 on Timber Structures held its 38th Commission Meeting on August 2005 in Karlsruhe, Germany. The meeting was hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering of the university of Karlsruhe. About 60 people from 18 countries attended the meeting. Participants presented a number of papers that are included in the Proceedings compiled by Prof. Rainer Görlacher from the university of Karlsruhe. Topics addressed include: Code applications, Environmental conditions, Fire and loading codes.
Report of the "Special" W096 Commission Meeting
The annual meeting of CIB W096 on Architectural Management was held at the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby, Denmark in November 2005.The meeting attracted fifty delegates from around the world to discuss the theme of ‘Designing Value’. This included many new faces from industry and academia.

International Conference on Accessibility and Safety for All, Verona, Italy, 22 March 2006
The International Conference “Accessibility and Safety for All” will take place in Verona, Italy, on 22nd March 2006. The conference will be hosted by CIB W084 Coordinator Annalisa Morini, It is co-organized by CNR ITC (National Research Council, Construction Technologies Institute) with the support of Assistenza Anziani, the Italian magazine devoted to housing and caring older people.
ESPRO Conference “The Move Towards Sustainable Property Development in Europe”, Stockholm, Sweden, 4 April 2006
The CIB co-sponsored ESPRO Stockholm Conference will be held on 4 April 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden. The Conference will bring together some of Europe’s most prominent representatives for the property and construction sector to speak on the escalating issue of sustainability and its strategic implications for organisations responsible for the development and management of the built environment.
5th Meeting on Climate Change and the Built Environment, Weimar, Germany, 1 June 2006
CIB W108 organizes its 5th meeting on 1 June 2006 in Weimar, Germany. This one day meeting aims to discuss and disseminate the latest findings and research on climate change and the built environment.
Workshop on “Dynamic Briefing - Managing Value and Adaptability”, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 2-5 July 2006
CIB W096 Commission theme for 2006 is 'Dynamic briefing - managing value and adaptability'. The meeting will take place on 2-5 July 2006 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The meeting is part of the CIB co-sponsored conference Adaptables 2006. This is part of the commission’s desire to ‘go deeper’ into specific areas of architectural design management over the next five years in an attempt to identify good practices and disseminate them to a wider audience.
23rd International Workshop by CIB W078: Computer Integrated Construction, Santiago, Chile, 29-31 August 2006
The School of Construction of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad de Talca-Chile is hosting the upcoming 23rd International Workshop by CIB W078 Computer Integrated Construction in Santiago de Chile from August 29 to 31, 2006. The workshop theme is “Improving the construction management of projects through IT adoption”. It recognizes sustained adoption and implementation of IT-based work processes as a major current challenge and opportunity for researchers, academicians and practitioners in the Built Environment.
32nd International Symposium on Water Supply and Drainage for Buildings, Taipei, 18-20 September 2006
CIB Working Commission W062 organizes its 32nd annual symposium in Taipei on 18-20 September 2006, together with NTUST (National Taiwan University of Science and Technology) and (ABRI) Architecture and Building Research Institute, Ministry of the Interior.The symposium is open to all those experts, researchers, practitioners, regulators and industry delegates from all over the world, with an interest in the developments in the field of water supply and drainage for buildings.

Proceedings of the 38th Meeting of W018 on Timber Structures
Proceedings of CIB W018 on Timber Structure held its annual meeting in August 2005 in Karlsruhe, Germany. This book contains 30 papers and several themes: Timber Columns – Code applications, Stress Grading and Wind-Induced Failures, Stress Analyses in Solid Timber, Timber Joints and Fasteners, Environmental Conditions and Design Specifications, Structural Stability and Standards, Fire behavior and Fire Tests, Statistic and Data Analysis for Performance, Glued Joints, Loading codes and New Generation of Timber Design Practices. This publication is available as a report.

1st International Intelligent and Green Building Technology Conference
These are the Proceedings from the Intelligent and Green Building Technology Conference, which took place on March 2005 in Beijing, China P.R.Over 160 papers are included in the Proceedings covering several themes: exporting sustainable building practices to China, energy-efficient and land-saving housing and public buildings, global development of intelligent and green buildings, new materials, technologies and methodologies. 25 paper with abstracts and the rest of the 200 papers are exclusively in English.

The International Latin American Association of Control of Quality, Pathology and Recovery of Constructions CONPAT 2005 Conference took place in September 2005 in Yucatan, Mexico. Note that the Proceedings are exclusively in Spanish. About 90 papers are included in the Proceedings covering several themes. Student Chapters
CIB Student Chapter Meeting in conjunction with BEAR 2006
The CIB Endorsed Student Chapter at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPolyU) will be hosting the CIB Student Chapters Meeting in April 2006 in Hong Kong. The event will be part of the BEAR 2006 International Conference. It aims to strengthen collaboration among all student members and young researchers through the CIB network.
TU/Eindhoven CIB Endorsed Student Chapter
The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning of the University of Technology in Eindhoven established a CIB Endorsed Student Chapter.It is important for TU/e students to participate in this worldwide CIB network: to open their horizons to the world, accessing the “state-of-the-art” of theirs and many other research fields; to take part in this worldwide network, advertising TU/e student researches and designs; their aims, methodologies and objectives.
CIB Endorsed PhD Research Chapter: TU-Delft, The Netherlands
PhD researchers from the Department of Real Estate & Housingand the Department of Construction Processes established a CIB Endorsed Student Chapter at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands.The Delft PhD research chapter shall be aimed at various broad objectives. In the Netherlands, the Delft chapter will also aim for collaboration with PhD researchers from Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Twente. The Delft Chapter president is Mr. Ruben Vrijhoef.
