CIB and CIB Related Publications in 2006
In 2006 a total of 35 CIB and CIB related Publications have been produced; by far most are proceedings from CIB and CIB co-sponsored conferences. 26 out of these have been made available to the CIB Secretariat in time to have them included in the annual overview through brief summaries.
CIB Related Conferences in 2006
2006 was once again a successful year for CIB related events all over the world, many of them of great international recognition and contributing in setting the global agenda in their respective field. A selection of 30 CIB or CIB Co-Sponsored Conferences in 2006 are briefly described.
CIB Encouraged Journals
As per the end of 2006 there are 20 CIB Encouraged Journals. In 2006 the following 6 Journals were added: The International Journal of Construction Management; Journal of Building Physics; Australian Journal of Construction Economics and Building; Materials and Structures; Journal for Education in the Built Environment; and the Journal of Construction in Develooping Countries.

CIB KPI’s - Key Performance Indicators for the year 2006 with comparative data over the period 2004 - 2005 on developments concerning: Membership for the CIB Membership in total, per fee category, region and type of organisation; Activities including Meetings, Task Groups and Working Commissions and Publications; and Finances including Membership Fees invoiced, Fee Payment Behaviour and Income and Expenditure.
Full Member Satisfaction Survey 2006
In the second half of 2006 the first of a series of annual Satisfaction Surveys has taken place under the CIB Full Members. The CEO’s of as many as possible of all 55 CIB Full Members had a discussion about their level of satisfaction with CIB ‘s activities and services to its Members with the CIB SG - Secretary General.
CIB Membership Development in 2006
The Annual CIB Membership Development for 2006 is presented in this News article with some comparative data for the period 2004-2006. An explanatory text to the presented data is included as an annex. After some years of loss in Membership, 2006 ends with a total of 11 members more. Most membership applications have been registered from Asia, while we continue to lose members in Europe.
New CIB Members in the Year 2006
In the year 2006 in total 50 new Members have joined CIB, including 4 Full Members, 20 Associate Members and 26 Individual Members. Among the 24 new organisational Members are 17 Universities. Each new member is briefly described. Three of the new Full Members are from the United States.
Overview CIB Task Groups and Working Commissions
The table shows an overview of CIB's Task Groups and Working Commissions as per the end of 2006. For each commission an indication is given of the extend to which it is expected to contribute to the CIB Priority Themes SC - Sustainable Construction, PBB - Performance Based Building, RC - Revaluing Construction an IDS - Integrated Design Solutions.
New CIB Task Groups and Working Commissions
In 2006 the CIB Programme Committee established five new CIB Task Groups. Three former Task Groups were upgraded to form three new CIB Working Commissions. Two former Working Commissions were merged into one new one. These nine new groups are briefly described.
Overview Priority Themes
CIB has initiated targeted programmes for four Priority Themes: Sustainable Construction, Performance Based Building, Revaluing Construction and Integrated Design Solutions. A more detailed update is given on develop-ments, that took place in 2006 that were of special relevance to the two last Priority Themes: RC - Revaluing Construction and IDS - Integrated Design Solutions.
CIB Website and Newsletter: Further Improvements in 2006
In the course of 2006 the accessibility of the CIB website was improved, new functionalities were added and a redesign has made the presentation of included information more attractive and user friendly. And the included electronic CIB Newsletter has continued to grow in both quality and quantity of the incorporated information.
CIB Endorsed Student Chapters
A listing is made of all 19 CIB Endorsed Student Chapters as per 31st December 2006. Three new Chapters were approved by the CIB Programme Committee last year. These are the College of Architecture at the Georgia Tech - USA, The University of Twente - The Netherlands and the Pontifica Universidad Católica de Chile.
CIB Gyula Sebestyén Student Chapter Award
The 2006 CIB Guyla Sebestyén Award was won by the proposal submitted jointly by a group of CIB chapters to establish the CIB Young Researchers Network. The Chapters involved for this proposal were: Delft, Eindhoven, Glasgow, Salford, Brighton, Lisbon, Milan and Ankara.
