W078 - Information Technology for Construction: Report of the 24th CIB W078 Conference held in Maribor, Slovenia
127 delegates participated the 24th CIB W078 conference IT in Construction with as main topic Bringing ITC knowledge to work, that was organised in conjunction with workshops by EG-ICE (European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering) and ITC@EDU (Construction IT in Education).
W113 - Law and Dispute Resolution: Meeting Report, Cape Town, South Africa, 13 May 2007
This news article describes the purpose of the new Working Commission W113 established in September 2006. New CIB law related Task Groups have been established: TG67 - Statutory Adjudication in Construction; TG68 - Construction Mediation; and TG69 - Green Buildings and the Law. Furthermore two commission study groups were established and future conference events are announced.
W113 - Law and Dispute Resolution: Study Groups on COPA and LARC
As part of CIB W113 Study Groups have been set up: the LARC Study Group on Legal Aspects of Relational Contracting and the COPA Study Group on Enforcement of Payment and Adjudication Contracts.

Report of the CIB Co-Sponsored International Workshop on Global Roadmap and Strategic Actions for ICT in Construction in Helsinki, Finland, August 2007
FIATECH, CIB, VTT, CSTB and TEKES organised this international workshop that concentrated on ICT and value-driven business processes supported through the use of technologies, with as the aim to develop a common global roadmap for ICT in construction.

CIB World Building Congress 2007: Conclusions and Recommendations
CIB held its 17th Triennial World Building Congress 2007 in Cape Town, South Africa, from 14 to 17 May. This news article presents its “Conclusions and Recommendations”. The recommendations are addressed to: the community of researchers; CIB itself; the practitioners in the built environment sector; and governments. The CIB membership and its leadership is encouraged to recognise that it is an organisation that has the potential to make a difference.

This special issue of Building Research and Information is devoted to examining the future of sustainable construction, more precisely, how it is evolving and where it might expect it to be in the next few decades. For the purpose of this special issue, sustainable construction may best be defined as how the construction industry together with its product the ‘built environment’ can contribute to the sustainability of the earth including its human and non-human inhabitants.
Open House International, Volume 32, Issue 2: Architecture in the Digital Age
The journal focuses on decision-making processes, which enable the various disciplines dealing with built environment to understand the dynamics of development, and housing and so contribute more effectively to it. A recent special OHI issue (Volume 32 – no.2) “Architecture in the Digital Age: The effect of digital media on the design, production and evaluation of the built environment” aimes to provide a forum for debate arising from findings as well as theory and methodologies.

Winner CIB Gyula Sebestyén Student Chapter Award 2007
This news article describes a project by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University which won the CIB Student Chapter Award 2007. Objectives of the project are: re-develop the SPIRIT System by using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, a new platform provided by Microsoft for application development; integrate the SPIRIT System with the CIB Young Researchers Network (YRN) concept in order to get the full benefits in two ways: a virtual track and a physical track; and attract new CIB Student Chapters by promoting SPIRIT and YRN.
Student Chapter Workshop in conjunction with the SB07 Conference, Lisbon, Portugal, 12-14 September 2007
The report presents an overview of the actions and results of the CIB Student Chapters Workshop which took place in conjunction with the SB07 Conference in Lisbon. This workshop was intended as the first event from the “Young Researchers Network” (created in 2006), and was organized by the TU Lisbon CIB Student Chapter.
