CIB - UICB Cooperation Established
CIB and UICB have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, in which both organizations commit to enhance their cooperation. The objectives of UICB include to encourage the exchange of information and documentation in the building and construction industry.

96th CIB Board Meeting, Brussels, 12-13 October 2009
In October the current and future operations of CIB were discussed in open lively discussions. In conjunction with these meetings, two other events took place: the Research Managers Meeting and the International seminar 'The implementation of energy efficient buildings policies in 5 continents'.
Priority Themes
Integrated Design Solutions: Conference Report on CIB IDS2009 - Improving Construction and Use through Integrated Design Solutions
The first international conference of CIB's new Priority Theme: Integrated Design Solutions (IDS) took place in June 2009 in Espoo, Finland. The main themed technical sessions included: Competence requirements for IDS; Utilisation of building information models; Integrated Processes; and Sustainability.

W078 - Information Technology for Construction: 26th International Conference Managing IT in Construction, Istanbul, Turkey, 1-3 October 2009
The conference will bring together international experts from academic and industrial communities to create an environment for the exchange of their research, experience and best practice. The conference aims to contribute to the wider debate on Managing IT in Construction.
W107 - Construction in Developing Countries: International Symposium on Construction in Developing Economies: Commonalities Among Diversities, Penang, Malaysia, 5-7 October 2009
The objectives of the symposium include: to discuss and address the commonalities in terms of opportunities, challenges and prospects and to review current research findings and how these may be utilised to help improve the construction industry in developing countries.
TG66 - Energy and the Built Environment: International Seminar "The Implementation of Energy Efficient Buildings Policies in 5 Continents", Brussels, 14 October 2009
In the context of an ambitious plan of activities with a focus on intercontinental comparison of policies in support of energy efficient buildings, TG66 will have its first International Seminar. Contributions will among others be presented by the European Community and the International Energy Agency.
CIB Co-Sponsored: 2nd Construction Industry Research Achievement International Conference (CIRAIC 2009), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 3-5 November 2009
The conference objectives are to highlight strategies for Malaysian Construction Industry Master Plan CIMP (2006-2015) implementation, to demonstrate and showcase R&D outputs, and to enhance R&D collaboration and partnerships. Prof. Peter Barrett, CIB President, will participate as a keynote speaker.
SB10 Seoul - International Conference on Sustainable Building Asia, Seoul, Korea, 24-26 February 2010
The purpose of the conference is to enhance understanding of the importance of sustainable development in industry and to expand international relations on the technology of sustainable architecture. The theme is: Sustainable Building Assessment Technology and Strategies for Higher Education.

This conference will be a major event about Sustainable Building and is included in an international conference series in 2010, which will lead to the worldwide conference of iiSBE, CIB and UNEP in 2011. This conference is focused on Low Cost Effective Solutions for Sustainable Construction.

2nd Notice: CESB10: Central Europe Towards Sustainable Building: From Theory to Practice, Prague, Czech Republic, 30 June-2 July 2010
CESB10 intends to cover the region of Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia and Switzerland. The topics are: advanced building design, energy efficiency, material efficiency, quality of internal and external environment, assessment methods, and economy.

TG58 - Clients and Construction Innovation: Proceedings: Leveraging Innovation for Sustainable Construction: Clients and Construction Innovation Workshop
The papers contained in this book explore the workshop's overarching theme of how to leverage innovation to increase the sustainability of the construction process and product. Participants sought to generate discussion on the topics of innovation and sustainability within the construction field.
Proceedings: Improving Construction and Use Through Integrated Design Solutions
This was the first conference of the IDS Priority Theme. Papers included in the Proceedings cover the following 6 themes: IDS Competences; BIM Utilisation; Integrated Processes; Sustainability; Beyond BIM; and User Value through Collaboration.

Winner of the CIB Sebestyen Future Leaders Award 2008/9
CIB is pleased to announce that the winner of the Sebestyen Future Leaders Award 2008/9 is the CIB Student Chapter at the Texas A & M University, with a proposal titled: First Global Trans-institutional Student Summit on Integrated Design Solutions (IDS) and the Built and Human Environment 2010.
