W096 - Architectural Management: Report on the International Conference "Architectural Management in the Digital Arena", held in Vienna, Austria, October 2011
The conference reflected on the uptake of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and associated digital technologies within the architectural, engineering and construction sectors. The theme built on the role of technology within the design management field and its influence on design and design roles.

Final Report on SB11 Helsinki World Sustainable Building Conference
During the SB11 Conference last October there were 310 oral and 200 poster presentations. A total of 1020 participants attended from 51 countries. The SB11 Conference website is still open and contains much post-conference information including video links and PowerPoint presentations.

Assistant Secretary General Leaves CIB
CIB's Assistant Secretary General, Dr Bill Porteous, will leave the CIB Secretariat on 14 December at the conclusion of his fixed-term contract. Among others he was the SB10/11 Conference Coordinator and contributed to the support and encouragement of CIB Student Chapters.

IDDS - Integrated Design and Delivery Solutions: Introducing the New Joint Coordinator Assoc.Prof. Robert Amor
At the recommendation of the CIB Programme Committee the CIB Board has appointed Assoc.Prof. Robert Amor of the University of Auckland to be Joint Coordinator of the CIB IDDS Priority Theme. Robert is Associate Professor at the University of Auckland and Head of the Department of Computer Science.

The deadlines for abstract submission and abstract acceptance notification have been extended because there have been some initial problems with the suggested abstract template download. These problems have been remedied and a link to the new file for download is provided.

The RICS COBRA 2012 International Conference is a must for industry and academics (including post graduate and post doctoral candidates) of all related construction and real estate areas. There will be CIB Commission Meetings and CIB Commission related sessions as part of the Conference.

Among others the symposium will be concerned with the dramatic changes impinging on the developments in advanced information and knowledge management thinking, and the opportunities and challenges presented by information and knowledge in a changing global economy.
New Publications
TG72 - Public Private Partnership: Proceedings of the CIB TG72/ARCOM Doctoral Research Workshop
The proceedings deal with element issues of PPPs, such as safety, risk and value for money, other papers presented the need for PPP implementation in Nigeria for transport projects, housing projects and for construction craft careers and others deal with mechanisms for dealing with core issues of PPPs.
W096 - Architectural Management: Proceedings of the Conference "Architectural Management in the Digital Arena"
This conference explored applications of architectural management using all types of electronic media for creating, communicating and realizing design in a variety of different contexts; as well as addressing long running themes within the architectural management knowledge domain.

International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment (IJDRBE): Special Themed Issue on Improving Resilience of Existing Infrastructure and Built Assets against Extreme Weather - Call for Abstracts
Among the subjects will be: assessing resilience and adaptive capacity of existing infrastructure, assessing attitudes of built environment professionals to climate change induced extreme weather, and preparing for extreme weather events - short term and long term measures.
International Journal of Law in the Built Environment - Special Issue: Construction Law
The three central papers tackle different elements of construction claims: some informative new perspectives on the familiar topic of global claims; the less commonly analysed area of prolongation costs; and critique of alternative modes of adjudication procedures and an integrated approach.

W116 Student Forum - First Meeting, Helsinki, Finland, October 2011
The W116 Student Forum is a working group of PhD, master and bachelor students on topics related to smart and sustainable built environments. The intention is to interchange research ideas and outcomes and to collaborate on research processes and information dissemination.
