Editorial
A Special Newsletter - Introduction
This special Pre-Congress Issue of the CIB Newsletter focuses on THE NEW CIB Strategy as proposed by the CIB Board. A new Membership and Fee System is part of this strategy and is presented separately. Cornerstones in the envisaged strategy changes are the Defined Commission Products, including the CIB Research Roadmaps, and the CIB Webinars, especially the upcoming series of CIB Technology Webinars. Additional new Member Services include ICONDA®CIBlibrary and the Personalised News Service. I hope you will feel inspired by THE NEW CIB as is being presented in this Newsletter.

CIB Enters Into a Partnership with UNISDR
CIB will be a partner in the UNISDR World Disaster Reduction Campaign on Making Cities Resilient, which aims at raising political commitment to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaption among local governments and mayors, and promotes the principle of sustainable urbanizations.

THE NEW CIB Strategy
The CIB Board has designed a strategy for the structural retention and growth of our membership. It includes a new mission statement and a new priority theme. Various measures are initiated to make the CIB Commissions as relevant as possible. This included the introduction of Defined Commission Products and the facilitation of Commission webinars. Also a series of CIB Technology Webinars is envisaged. In support of the new style Commissions a CIB Publication and Webinars Support Service is being been set up. Also a new Membership and fee System is proposed.
New CIB Membership and Fee System
At the upcoming CIB General Assembly the CIB Membership will be asked to approve a new Membership and Fee System. The new fee System will be benefit-based, with Members in different categories paying a Fee that entitles them to different packages of Member benefits; for example in terms of access to publications and to webinars. It also includes a new type of high-level meeting that will be accessible to Full Members only.
2012 New Style Annual Report
This new style version provides an attractively presented summary with amongst other information on developments that took place in 2012, as related to Commissions, Priority Themes, Conferences, Publications, Student Chapters, Webinars and Research Roadmaps.

Personalised CIB News Service
The CIB Personalised News Service enables people to take up a personal subscription to the monthly CIB Newsletter and to a personal selection of daily stand-alone News Articles. This new and free service is offered to CIB Members and non Members alike.
CIB Research Roadmaps
The Research Roadmap publications include: Full Reports often targeting the international experts community with a special interest in the topic and including all details, Summaries, being short, brochure-like publications that target decision makers on research funding, and Consultation Reports.
CIB Webinars
CIB opened a designated section on CIB Webinars in the CIB Website. It will contain the outcomes of the webinars (or series of Webinars) as facilitated by the CIB Secretariat and organized together with CIB Commissions, Theme Groups, Student Chapters and Partner Organizations.

From CIB Working Commission W062 – Water Supply and Drainage - all its 38 Proceedings are free downloadable from ICONDA®CIBlibrary. At this moment all full Proceedings are included since 1972 and over 700 conference papers are also free downloadable.

Members of the CIB can benefit profoundly from the availability of an information hub that aggregates otherwise scattered content from the domain of building research: the ICONDA®CIBlibrary. All Publications are free downloadable for CIB Members and non-Members.
Clients and Users in Construction: Research Roadmap - Report and Summary
The roadmap provides a toolkit for international coordinated engagement that is conceptually sound as well as practically relevant and useful. This will enable the development of a new way of working with clients' agendas in order to assist then in managing their change process. An Integral Roadmap Report and a Summary Publication can be downloaded for free and will be presented in a WBC Workshop.
Report of CIB-TG63 & UN/ISDR Resilient Cities Webinars
Webinars were organised on 1) Enabling risk reduction through urban planning, 2) Engaging multiple stakeholders in disaster risk reduction (DRR) for cities, 3) People's needs and expectations in postdisaster reconstruction, 4) Local Government Self Assessment Tool (LGSAT). Per item key messages and recommendations are presented.
