New Commission Coordinator Heat and Moisture Transfer in Buildings
The CIB Programme Committee appointed Univ.Prof. Dr. Thomas Bednar of the TU Wien in Vienna, Austria, as the new Coordinator of W040 – Heat and Moisture Transfer in Buildings.

World Building Congress 2016 was a success
The 21st World Building Congress (WBC16) was held on May 30 - June 3 in Tampere, Finland. It was one of the largest building industry R&D&I congress gatherings in CIB history. There were over 400 presentations from 48 countries and the total amount of participants was over 600. The proceedings can be downloaded for free.

CIB Honorary Membership for John McCarthy
The CIB Board awarded a lifelong Honorary Membership to John McCarthy, Queensland University of Technology Australia. John McCarthy was acknowledges for his extraordinary and long lasting support to the CIB mission to promote worldwide information exchange and cooperation in research and innovation for building and construction.
Best Coordinator Keith Hamspson
For the term 2013 - 2016 the Triennial Best Coordinator Award was given to Keith Hampson, SBEnrc/Curtin University, Australia. During 2011 - 2014 Keith was one of the Coordinators of TG85 - R&D Investment & Impact and since he is one of the Coordinators of TG 90 - Information Integration in Construction.

New CIB Research Roadmaps
At the CIB World Building Congress various new Research Roadmap Publications were presented. These include a final Roadmap Report on Smart Cities, an updated Summary Publication of the Roadmap on Clients and Users in Construction and various new Roadmap Consultation Reports. All are free downloadable.

CIB Task Group TG88 - Smart Cities launches the CIB roadmap on Smart Citiesduring a panel discussion on May 31st in Tampere, Finland at 13:30 - 15:00. The Roadmap describes the current state of the art and most dominant global challenges on the concept of Smart Cities.

Working Commission W098 Intelligent and responsive Buildings invites you to attend its intelligent and Responsive Buildings Workshop on June 2nd, 2016 during the CIB World Congres in Tampere, Finland. During the workshop Prof Juhani Pallasmaa will give a presentation on Empathic and Embodied Imagination.

These sessions provide a quick overview of the various Research Roadmaps as already develop or in the process of being developed by CIB Commissions and Priority Themes. Such roadmaps are especially important for people in both academia, in the Industry and in government with an interest in strategic directions for research and innovation for building and construction.
