TG66 - Energy and the Built Environment: Report 1st International Seminar "Implementation of Energy Efficient Buildings Policies in 5 Continents"
The seminar's objectives were: to set up a worldwide network of experts, to gather and capitalize high level information on the scope and to put this information online for public authorities and researchers. All presentations can be viewed and listened to on line.
W101 - Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Development: Workshop Report Urban Infrastructure and Land Use Control
Discussions and presentations were focussed on the following topics: Provision of Public Services and Land Use Control; Public Transport Revival and Development Control; Smart Management of Urban Infrastructure in Shrinking Era; and Regulation and Deregulation on Urban Land Use, Success and Failure.
W108 - Climate Change and the Built Environment: New W108 Website
W108 launched a new website for Climate Change and the Built Environment. Among others information can be found about a new project, that is to result in a report including National Perspectives and an International Synthesis on Sustainable Climate Change Adaptation.
TG77 - Health and the Built Environment: Introducing a New Task Group
The CIB Board established a new Task Group: TG77 on Health and the Built Environment, with Dr. Marinus Verweij from TNO Built Environment and Geosciences in Utrecht, The Netherlands as its Coordinator. A short description of the Task Group and a brief introduction of the Coordinator are given.
TG66 - Energy and the Built Environment: New Focus and Action Plan
TG66 has decided to focus on the Implementation of Energy Efficient Buildings Policies in 5 continents. The Task Group Action Programme includes an intercontinental comparative analysis, a community website, a seminar and a series of virtual meetings.
W115 - Construction Materials Stewardship: Report of 1st International Conference "Construction Materials Stewardship 2009"
CMS2009 had three major unique features: active involvement of the construction industry during the kick off industry session as well as during de debate and reflection session; students presentations in a interactive virtual reality lab at the University Twente; and art and science exhibition.
W115 - Construction Materials Stewardship: Report of the Commission Meeting, Enschede, The Netherlands, 14 June 2009
At this meeting several Commission projects were discussed. Furthermore there were national reportings related to Construction Materials Stewardship from the United Kingdom, Japan, Norway and Singapore. The next meeting of W115 will be held in the summer of 2010 in Beijing, China.
W116 - Smart and Sustainable Built Environments: Report of the 3rd International Conference: Smart and Sustainable Environments, Delft, The Netherlands, June 2009
This is an extensive report by Andy van den Dobbelsteen on the outcome of SASBE 2009 and related social events with a detailed evaluation, resulting in recommendations for future conferences. Attention is given for example to the Sustainable Industry Day and the CIB Student competition.
W114 - Earthquake Engineering and Buildings: Report from two International Workshops on Response Control and Seismic Isolation of Buildings for Earthquake Disaster Mitigation
This article includes reports on the Workshop on Response Control and Seismic Isolation of Buildings in Guangzhou, China, and the Workshop on Response Control and Seismic Isolation of Buildings for Earthquake Disaster Mitigation in Nanjing, China, both in November 2008.
TG75 - Engineering Studies on Traditional Constructions: Introducing a new Task Group
A large part of the world's population lives in vernacular or traditional houses that are built of adobe, brick, earth, stone and wood, that are non-engineered and that are extra vulnerable to earthquakes. This also applies to most historical constructions. Against this background the Task Groups aims to enhance the insight of the world's engineering community in the design and construction principles involved.
W104 - Open Building Implementation/W110 - Informal Settlements and Affordable Housing: Report of Joint Conference on Education for an Open Architecture held in October 2008
The conference enabled participants to work together on teaching methods for an open architecture. Open Architecture concerns at least three main principles: change; the idea of levels; and the recognition that the built environment comes into being and transforms by way of distributed design.
TG69 - Green Buildings and the Law: Establishment of a Worldwide Research Group on Green Building and the Law
The ultimate goal of the research group is to produce a CIB publication containing a selection of research outputs authored by prominent environmental law scholars across the world. This will outline the state of the law relating to green buildings and address the legal challenges presented by the global warming imperative.
W114 - Earthquake Engineering and Buildings: Newsletter
A 6th newsletter has been launched by Dr. Taiki Saito, Coordinator of W114. It contains information on the International Workshop on Response Control and Seismic Isolation of Buildings for Earthquake Mitigation; a new International Project on Performance Based Design of Seismically Isolated Buildings; and a proposal for a new Task Group on Engineering Approach to Non-Engineered Structures.
