W084 - Building Comfortable Environments for All: Conference Report "Accessibility and Safety for All"
The topics of the Conference included: legislation and standard, escape of disabled people in emergencies, sports, recreation and accessible environments, education and training, universal design at the urban scale, accessibility and usability of modern technologies, and case studies.
W116 - Smart and Sustainable Built Environments: Report of the 3rd International Conference: Smart and Sustainable Environments, Delft, The Netherlands, June 2009
This is an extensive report by Andy van den Dobbelsteen on the outcome of SASBE 2009 and related social events with a detailed evaluation, resulting in recommendations for future conferences. Attention is given for example to the Sustainable Industry Day and the CIB Student competition.

CIB - IAARC Partnership Established
CIB and IAARC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, in which both organizations commit to enhance their cooperation. Both organisations have a worldwide membership, and both aim to support continuous performance improvement of the building and construction sector.

2009 Meeting of the CIB General Assembly, Shanghai, 21st April 2009
During this meeting, the current and future operations of CIB were discussed in open lively discussions. Among the topics were: the 2008 Financial Report, the Committee of Examination Report 2008 and the election of new replacement Board Members.

Global financial and economic problems are still besetting the construction sector which continues to be the sick man of many economies. The Workshop will be based on common issues, such as macroeconomic issues, microeconomic issues and human resource issues.

W056 - Sandwich Panels: Special Track CIB World Building Congress 2010, Salford Quays, United Kingdom, May 2010
Among the subjects of the Session are: resistance of sandwich panels to mechanical and environmental loads and behaviour, resistance of sandwich panels to accident risks like fire, blast and local loads and earthquakes, and strength of sandwich panels in the long-term, i.e. durability of sandwich panels.
W070 - Facilities Management and Maintenance: Special Track CIB World Building Congress 2010, Salford Quays, United Kingdom, May 2010
W070 will be hosting a Special Track on the theme of ‘Think Global, Act Local: The Facilities Management Challenge’. Consideration is given to the current research activity on space planning, regulatory standards, design solutions and participatory models that are affected by the local context.
W113 - Law and Dispute Resolution: Special Track CIB World Building Congress 2010, Salford Quays, United Kingdom, May 2010
This Special Track of W113 sessions during the 2010 Congress will focus on construction law in its widest sense and on related dispute resolution topics within construction. The Congress will also feature a mock construction mediation, hosted by W113 and led by leading construction mediator and author David Richbell.

Objectives of the track are: to lead in the development of the analysis of economic aspects of the construction industry; to deepen the understanding of industry dynamics and its links to the broader economy; and to engage with researchers from a range of disciplines who share these interests.
W092 - Procurement Systems: Special Track CIB World Building Congress 2010, Salford Quays, United Kingdom, May 2010
This Special Track is together with Task Group TG58 - Clients and Construction Innovation. The purpose of the special track will be to report, review and speculate on the pursuit of sustainability and value through construction procurement.
W117 - Performance Measurement in Construction: Special Track CIB World Building Congress 2010, Salford Quays, United Kingdom, May 2010
W117 will have a Special Track as part of the CIB World Congress on the use of Performance Information in the Delivery of Construction and other Services. Construction researchers are invited to submit papers on this and on best value, risk management and supply chain optimization.
W104 - Open Building Implementation: 16th International Conference on Open and Sustainable Building, Bilbao, Spain, 17-19 May 2010
The conference will focus on developments related to new realities in the built environment. These are occurring in support of two major societal objectives: 1) an adaptable - and thus sustainable - building stock and, 2) a more user-centered process of design and construction.
SB10 Euregional Sustainable Building, Maastricht, 11-13 October 2010
SB10 Euregion, organised by 4 organisations from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, has chosen to concentrate on what is called the “0-options”: Looking forward to the transition which is being made, the focus is for instance on energy neutral cities, 0-energy buildings and 0-water districts.

Proceedings of the 3rd CIB International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Built Environment (SASBE2009)
The proceedings are on a memory stick which contains documents of the SASBE2009 conference. The documents are divided into four categories: scientific papers, scientific posters, entries for the CIB student competition and entries for the Sustainable Industry Day.

International Journal of Law in the Built Environment
To celebrate the publication of the first issue, the publisher is pleased to give free online access to this issue until 31 July 2009. The article also contains a Call for Papers for the next issue. Papers may address legal educational issues, doctrinal, theoretical or other forms of legal scholarship.

Student Chapters
CIB Student Competition at SASBE2009
The competition was designed to attract the very best student ideas on a sustainability challenge. The challenge was to propose a concept for a living area or single home that produces sustainable energy equivalent to its energy consumption. The winner was Algaetecture.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University CIB Endorsed Student Chapter Research reports on a Busy Year
The recent activities of this Student Chapter range from reports on an exchange seminar with the ShenZhen University, and a site visit to observe the six day floor cycle being adopted on a new housing estate, through to Chapter organized workshops and research presentations.
